Veya Karim | Founder & Creative Director
Born in a Queens apartment filled with the scent of chickpeas and the hum of Syrian ballads, Veya inherited her Syrian father’s love for antique mechanics and her seamstress mother’s flair for transforming scraps into gold. A bridge between Old World craftsmanship and New York’s gritty creativity, she founded Veyajewels to prove that beauty blooms where cultures collide.
Her mantra: “Sparkle is found not in perfection, but in the cracks where light escapes.”
The Artisans’ Collective
Our studio in Brooklyn’s Dumbo Arts District is a melting pot of 12 nationalities, united by a shared mission:

Layla (Metalwork Maestro)
A third-generation silversmith from Yemen, Layla sculpts reclaimed brass from the Statue of Liberty’s repairs into intricate clasps. “Every scratch on the metal is a whisper from its past life,” she says. -
Emiko (Heirloom Alchemist)
Trained in Kyoto’s metalworking studios, Emiko transforms clients’ family relics—like a Guatemalan grandmother’s thimble—into modernist pendants. “Jewelry should carry DNA, not just diamonds,” she insists. -
Rasha (Community Weaver)
A refugee advocate, Rasha partners with Yemeni women in camps to hand-twist 24k gold wire into tassels. “These tassels aren’t just decorations—they’re lifelines,” she shares.
